Conduit Gallery presents Liss LaFleur: Tips artist reception

Inspired by Mina Loy's 1914 text, Aphorisms on Futurism, Tips is a homonym for the future feminist. Digitally engraved, Mina Loy's words, her tips, are individually laser cut into 667 acrylic fingernails. These are used as a performance tool, via a single channel video, to facilitate discourse between a mother and daughter both biologically and historically linked. Mirroring the intent of the Futurist feminist, LaFleur's video performance uses the act of deconstructing the text in order to open a space for new ideas and as the artist states, "focus on the instability of memory and representation as a common thread that weaves together the analog/digital, and historic/futuristic divide".

Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display through February 13.
