Ruth Crawford Seeger, stepmother to the famous folk singer Pete Seeger, was a major force in contemporary music circles in the first half of the 20th century. Her 1939 orchestral fantasia Rissolty Rossolty was commissioned by CBS as a tribute to American composers and highlights old folk tunes Phoebe, The Death of Callahan, and Rissolty, Rissolty.

American piano legend and DSO Artist-in-residence, Emanuel Ax, takes the spotlight in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17, which brims with colorful key juxtapositions, operatic melodies and an infectious variation rondo finale, whose tune Mozart’s pet starling used to sing incessantly.

Berio’s Rendering is a restoration of Schubert’s material for an incomplete 10th Symphony, which he Schubert sketched a few weeks before his death at the ripe age of 31.
