North Texas celebrates Dallas Jazz Appreciation Month (D’JAM) this April with events ranging from concerts and festivals to a visual art exhibit and film screening. The annual salute is highlighted by a free concert and open house.
The event features live music by four local jazz groups:
- Helbing Jazz Institute’s Student All-Star Combo
- Roger Boykin Trio
- Kelly Durbin Quartet
- Jazz Becuzz, featuring Jason Davis with Mahogany
The event will also feature:
- Free jazz CDs and the new “Great Day in Dallas” poster, featuring nearly 70 local jazz artists photographed by Jesse Hornbuckle.
- D’JAM Jazz Legends Awards presentation: Sandra Kaye - Artist, Ed Soph - Educator, Teddy Davey (posthumous) - Supporter and Quamon Fowler - Innovator.
