The Nodding Donkey Kitchen

An offshoot of the Nodding Donkey in Uptown, the Nodding Donkey Kitchen takes upscale sports-bar style and puts it in a restaurant setting. Don’t worry, though; this Donkey still has a wide selection of canned beers and cocktails, including its signature Donkey Punch. The food is more thoughtful – in addition to an assortment of pizzas, the Donkey does achiote-rubbed pork tenderloin and seared Scottish salmon with parsnip puree – and the setting is more family-friendly than the Uptown location. But this one is across the street from Milo Butterfingers and around the corner from SMU, so you’ll likely find a few undergrads here at any given hour. If it’s Friday night, you’ll probably find a lot of them here before they stumble down the road to Barley House.
There are half-off something specials Monday-Thursday (from pizza to scotch), and the Donkey does brunch on Saturday as well as Sunday.
