Lakewood Theater

This single-screen movie theater opened in 1938, and its 100-foot-tall art deco tower has been a landmark in the Lakewood area ever since. Although the theater has been through a few changes since its opening day – including the retrofitting of a 1920s pipe organ into its interior in the 1980s – the theater still functions with its original purpose: showing movies. In addition, Lakewood Theater serves as a venue for plays, private events and concerts, such as the Polyphonic Spree Holiday Extravaganza.
The Lakewood Theater’s iconic tower and façade were badly damaged during the June 2012 hail storm.
