Sleek restaurant from colorful chef (and Top Chef contestant) John Tesar specializes in seafood, almost to the exclusion of everything else. Spoon reflects Tesar's Northeast upbringing as well as the skills he acquired working for Rick Moonen's RM Seafood. The fish is often simply prepared, roasted or baked, and accompanied by root vegetables in a spartan jus. But there are also bold dishes like grilled octopus with pork belly, or smoked eel headcheese with horseradish cream. The signature dish is Singapore chili lobster in a creamy, potently-flavored bisque with thick slices of toast. Decor is breathtaking, with slabs of white marble and soothing pale sky-blue splashes meant to create a coastal vibe.
