Dwell With Dignity brightens surroundings — and future — for families in need

For families struggling with homelessness and poverty, finding a permanent place to live is just the first step in a long process. But a home is more than just four walls and a roof; it's a sense of ownership and place.

Dwell with Dignity is a nonprofit group of interior designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families fighting poverty. The organization provides and installs home interiors, from furnishings to food in the pantry.

The nonprofit believes that changing a people’s surroundings can change their outlooks on life. By giving children a nurturing home environment — including good design and art — it will inspire a higher standard of living that continues on to future generations. Parents see the positive impact it has on their family, encouraging them to maintain a standard of living they can be proud of.

“The families we help are dedicated to changing their lives by learning to become self-sufficient,” says founder Lisa Robison. Dwell with Dignity works with partner agencies that give families counseling, training and support to provide surroundings in which they can thrive.
