Wednesday, April 24

Chateau Teyssier Wine Dinner at The Grape
Nigerian-born Englishman Jonathan Maltus teams up with The Grape for a three-course wine dinner from 5:30-9 pm. The $55 meal features pairings from Maltus’ Cheateau Teyssier and his Napa Valley venture, World’s End. Maltus will be there for a chat.

Chef Yara Castro Roberts at Central Market
Central Market kicks off its Passport Brazil festival with a sampling of traditional dishes prepared by Brazilian celebrity chef Yara Castro Roberts, who has hosted PBS’ Cooks Tour series and has been featured in the New York Times. Her plates include bobo, a shrimp stew with plantains served with acaca, a rice flour polenta, as well as grilled chicken with farofa, a manioc flour with dried fruit. Tickets are $35, and the event begins at 6:15 pm at the Lovers Lane store.

Frank Family Vineyards Wine Dinner at Hibiscus
Frank Family Vineyards and Scott Lloyd visit Hibiscus for a five-course meal featuring dishes such as Pinot-braised Texas quail with pork belly, wild mushrooms, baby carrots and cippolini, as well as coffee-crusted Texas bison rib-eye with barbecue heirloom speckle beans and Swiss chard. Reservations are $125 per person and can be made by calling 214-827-2927.

Best Buddies Texas presents Life is Sweet
Best Buddies Texas presents Life is Sweet, an evening of desserts and other tasty bites prepared by renowned chefs from restaurants such as Ruth's Chris Steak House, Central 214, Nick and Sam's, People's Last Stand, Village Marquee Texas Grill & Bar, Parigi, Seasons 52 and FT33. Each chef is paired with a buddy (a person with an intellectual or developmental disability) to highlight the organization's mission of social inclusion and one-to-one friendships.

2013 Texas Food Truckin’ Fest
The inaugural Texas Food Truckin’ Fest invades the parking lots around the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington for the weekend. In addition to a plethora of food trucks, the festival includes include live music, kids’ activities and TVs showing the Rangers' away games. Tickets are $10 for one day or $12 for a two-day pass. A portion of the proceeds benefits the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Saturday, April 27

White Rock Local Market Chili Showdown
White Rock Local Market hosts its third annual chili showdown from 11 am-12:30 pm at the Green Spot. For just $7, dig into samples from 20 teams, and watch as celebrity judges such as Josh Yingling, co-owner of Goodfriend, and BBQ Snob Daniel Vaughn, Texas Monthly’s new barbecue editor, name the winners in multiple categories. Money raised helps fund White Rock Local Market programs.
