The clock is ticking – or should we say, le temps est compté? – for JoJo Eating House & Bar. The Uptown restaurant starring French chef Laurent Poupart has been taken over by an unexpected new owner: Dee Lincoln, co-founder of Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House. Lincoln will clean house and change the restaurant's identity in two weeks.
Lincoln was unavailable for comment, but a staffer with the restaurant confirmed the new ownership, as well as the fact that chef Poupart would be replaced.
Poupart confirmed that he was leaving, but did not share any other details about the deal, than to say that he hasn't decided what his next move will be.
"I'm not sure what I’m going to do yet," he says. "I'm going to stay in Dallas for now, and I'll stay through at JoJo's for the next two weeks, when someone else will take over and change the concept."
Lincoln is taking over the restaurant from owner Mike Moreno, for whom Poupart once worked as a private chef. She currently owns Dee Lincoln's Dining Room & Bubble Bar, a wine-lounge-restaurant in Uptown with a gimmicky "state of the art" wine-dispensing machine; there's also a sibling Bubble Bar at Cowboys Stadium.
JoJo's opened in November in the old Tin Star space with a casual yet sophisticated menu that ran from pizzas to shrimp cocktail to French dishes such as steak frites, osso buco, mussels and Caesar salad. If that sounds good, then now is your time to get it.
