Discerning travelers look to Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards, an annual roundup of the best hotels, spas, airlines and cities around the globe. Dallas represents on the 2014 list, with two luxury properties from our homegrown hotel brand: Rosewood Crescent Hotel and Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.
Both properties rank among the top large city hotels in the continental United States. The Crescent took the No. 37 spot; the Mansion followed closely at No. 38.
About the Crescent, T+L recommends the standard guest rooms with courtyard views looking out onto the "buzzing pool" and offers this insider tip: "Hit the spa for a lavender pedicure — it comes with lavender-scented treatments and even lavender shortbread cookies, for the ultimate in relaxation."
T+L notes the Mansion's updated look "befitting the original Italian Renaissance decorative scheme," as well as chef Bruno Davaillon's king crab butternut squash soup and bison tenderloin au poivre. The insider tip for the Mansion: "Hit the Mansion restaurant for a no-holds-barred brunch, with everything from tortilla soup to hazelnut brioche."
To determine its World's Best Awards, Travel + Leisure looks to its readers, who rate properties, travel companies and destinations on a scale of one to five in several categories. Overall scores appear on the list, along with icons denoting hall-of-fame status and value, where applicable.
Two other Rosewood properties in Mexico, Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos and Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, were named to the top 100 hotels overall, at Nos. 25 and 88, respectively.
The only other Texas hotel in the World's Best Awards 2014 was the Four Seasons in Austin, which slid in at No. 50 on the large city hotels list.
