Labor Day Vacay
Texas sizzles with 4 of the hottest destinations for Labor Day weekend

Texas is trending for Labor Day weekend. That's according to Priceline.com, which ranks four Lone Star cities among the top 25 destinations for the holiday weekend.
Dallas leads the pack, at No. 9, followed by San Antonio (No. 16), Houston (No. 17), and Austin (No. 23). Priceline determined the rankings by looking at the total number of hotel bookings for each destination for the upcoming holiday.
"Generally, Labor Day travel exhibits certain characteristics. People are looking to take shorter getaways, say one to two nights," says Brian Ek, an analyst for the travel website. "Beaches tend to be a bit less popular than major cities, where people can go in, maybe have a nice meal, catch the fireworks if there are any, and do some fall or back-to-school shopping."
Texas getaways are budget-friendly, too, notes Ek. "You'll quickly see what a deal a Texas escape can be."
The best deal can be found in Houston, where the average hotel room rate is $99 per night. San Antonio and Dallas cost a bit more: $119 and $121, respectively. Austin is the priciest, but the average hotel room is still well under $200, $160 per night.
