King of chic Todd Fiscus ranks among top 35 event designers in America
The name Todd Fiscus is synonymous with spectacular event design. For the last 15 years, the owner and creative director of Todd Events has been the go-to for anyone in Dallas — and beyond — who craves his signature swanky, of-the-moment style. He creates what he calls lush “life excursions” in locations ranging from Mexico to Maine.
His ability to bring beauty, elegance and excitement to any place — whether the Dallas Museum of Art, for the extravagant Art Ball, or the Nasher Sculpture Center garden, for an ethereal wedding — has landed him on BizBash’s inaugural list of the country’s top 35 event designers. The leading trade media for event and meeting organizers has this to say about how a modern event designer works:
Today’s event designers are not simply florists. In order to stand out in a highly competitive marketplace, they must create immersive, visually creative environments that help their clients send messages in targeted, elegant ways. Tables, chairs, linens, lighting, dinnerware, and flowers are not only decorative—in the best hands, they’re transformed into a sophisticated communication medium that influences how people interact with their hosts and with one another.
To compile the list, the editors looked at the quality and breadth of the work from each candidate. But mostly they sought innovation, i.e., “work that made the editors gasp or say, ‘I’ve never seen that before.’”
And Fiscus is in very good company. Other names on the prestigious list include Preston Bailey, David Starck and Bryan Rafanelli.
These 35 trendsetters from across the nation create hundreds of events each year, including White House state dinners, Oscar parties, SXSW events, and soirees for Arabian sultanas.
