Exclusive gay matchmaking service H4M opens Dallas doors to men looking for love
Austin-based private matchmaking service He’s For Me has officially landed in Dallas on this day of love, with the announcement of a new local office at 2911 Turtle Creek Blvd. and its director, Dana Foley-Taylor. The exclusive service caters to professional gay men who are serious about finding a relationship.
H4M founder Tammy Shaklee had her sights set on Dallas nearly from the start, in part because her clients had an interest in meeting potential mates in other cities.
H4M matches men based on interests, behaviors, and three to five things they have in common. Looks are the least-discussed topic.
“Though we started in Austin, the interest in H4M’s design of quality matchmaking for gay men quickly spread to Dallas, Houston and outside of Texas,” Shaklee said in a statement. “It became apparent we needed to meet the need of Dallas-Fort Worth men with a full-time office and staff. We are thrilled to have found an ideal location and a great director, and now we can introduce new clients to quality matches within a couple of weeks.”
Shaklee calls the process “pretty traditional. There’s an introduction, courtship and dating,” she told CultureMap last year. “We’re in the business of quality introductions.”
Those quality introductions are done offline — Shaklee learned that many gay men were soured by their experiences with online dating — and potential clients go through a phone interview before they’re even invited for a personal sit-down at the office. Most of H4M’s clients are between 30 and 60 years old, and they are matched based on interests, behaviors, and three to five things they have in common. Looks are the least-discussed topic.
Shaklee follows a strict process, of which she is very protective. First dates are always for lunch or after-work drinks. Neither guy is told the last name or profession of the other; that’s up to them to share if they want. From there, they can pursue a second date, if feedback was good from both. Once a couple goes on a second date, H4M steps out of the picture.
After the first date, however, rules still apply. Clients are asked not to seek out their dates on Facebook or LinkedIn; if they want to talk, a phone call is the best way. Text messages are discouraged.
Customized service packages start in the $3,000’s and go up from there, depending on the needs of each client. Dating coaching sessions are also available. Those interested can call 855-443-7463 or visit the H4M website.
For gay men in Dallas looking for lasting love, we’d call this a pretty sweet Valentine’s Day gift.
