Party in a Box
When life gives her lemons, screw the lemonade and send a Packed Party
Ladies, if you’re in search of a gift that’ll lift the spirits of a girlfriend who’s down in the dumps, look no further. Packed Party has the best thing since Ben & Jerry’s, wine and sappy movies.
This quirky, cool service is guaranteed to give you some gift-giving cred. Boxes include four to five full-sized items that center around a particular “party” theme, along with a letter-pressed card stating what the party is and why it’s being sent.
Themes include the aforementioned Pity Party and You Don’t Need Him Anyway, as well as less sad selections like Birthday Beb; Miss You Bitch; You Pampered Thing, You; The Bridesmaid; and Thanks (x Million). Treats include a luxurious Breakfast At Tiffany’s-themed sleep mask (You Pampered Thing, You), a brass knuckles phone case (You Don’t Need Him Anyway) or self-therapy flash cards (Pity Party).
Gift boxes include four to five full-sized items that center around a particular “party” theme, along with a letter-pressed card.
These bountiful gift boxes are $45-$47 each and can be shipped to a friend in need of a little lovin’ in no time flat — two to five days, to be exact.
The brains behind the operation is Jordan Jones, who was born and raised in these parts. She thought of this idea after having a pity party of her own. Jones had moved to San Francisco to start a new job, and she knew no one. So she called her mom for a little TLC.
“A few weeks after moving, it really set in I was definitely not in Dallas anymore, and I was a bit lonely,” Jones says. “I called my mom who immediately told me I was having a pity party for myself and to go to sleep. I immediately did so and woke up in the middle of the night with the idea of sending yourself an actual Pity Party package.”
After staying up half of the night writing down a million different packaged parties that someone could send to themselves or someone else — and selling the idea to her business-minded father the next day — Packed Party was born.
“Our mission to be confident enough to start the party for yourself and kind enough to start the party for someone else is something that really resonates with people,” Jones says. “Everyone is dealing with life’s occurrences, and it’s important to say ‘Hey, you have a choice to start your own party here and pick yourself up.’”
Although Jones isn’t currently living in Dallas (she stuck it out and now loves San Francisco), she continues to feel the love from a city that she says will always feel like home.
“Dallas women root for Dallas women, and it’s been fun to see people like Courtney Kerr, Lauren Scruggs, Gina Miller and others rally around Packed Party and be so supportive,” she says.
