Candy's House of the Week
Jennifer Staubach Gates' childhood home hits market for $1.1 million
Before they built their 12,000-plus-square-foot dream home over on Ravine Drive, Marianne and Roger Staubach lived at 6912 Edelweiss Cir., just north of LBJ off Hillcrest Road. This is also the house where Jennifer Staubach Gates, freshman city councilwoman for Preston Hollow, grew up.
Now the home is listed with Ebby Halliday for $1,100,000. That price includes a backyard paradise replete with mature trees, stone terraces and lushly landscaped private grounds on a .53-acre cul-de-sac lot.
The circa 1978 home has been extensively renovated since the Staubachs called it home, including nearly 4,000 square feet of brand-new wood flooring, which is half of the 8,708 total square footage. In addition, six of the 8.5 baths (yep, you read that right) have been gutted and redone.
This family home is built for entertaining, with multiple living areas, library, game room, media room, solarium, and amazing pool and spa. Of course the kitchen is beyond fantastic — definitely not the same kitchen where Jennifer poured her Cheerios — and the dining room seats 24.
The five bedrooms are divided into three separate bedroom areas for privacy, and I have never seen so much storage space: built-ins, linen closets — even storage under multiple staircases. If you cannot find a place to store something in this house, then you have too much stuff!
Back to those 8.5 bathrooms — that’s almost one commode per every 1,000 square feet. So we know that although Jennifer didn’t have to share bathrooms with her sibs, she’s going to be a fiscal watchdog supreme: People with multiple bathrooms know where to get the very best prices on TP.
