New healthy restaurant from Phoenix rolls out bowls for Dallas
A healthy chain from Phoenix is coming to Dallas-Fort Worth. Called Original ChopShop, it is a fast-casual restaurant concept serving bowls, salads, sandwiches, and juice.
ChopShop currently has five locations in Arizona, with plans to quadruple the number of locations across the country in the next three years — starting with Dallas. We're the place everyone wants to start.
The first location opened in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2013. The menu offers protein bowls, acai and pitaya bowls, juices, protein shakes, salads, and sandwiches that are made from scratch on-site with real, quality ingredients.
The first location opening in the DFW area will be Las Colinas, at 7300 N MacArthur Blvd.; it's scheduled to open in April. A second one will follow, this time at Plano's Shops at Legacy.
Protein bowls are a core focus, providing three key essentials: greens, grains, and proteins. The most popular is the teriyaki chicken bowl, which can be served with super-food forbidden rice, brown rice, or sweet potato hash.
The average menu item is priced below $10.
A sibling concept of Original ChopShop called Bellagreen is also expanding to Dallas; they're owned by the same corporate parent. An inaugural branch of Bellagreen will open in May at The Hill, the eco-centric center at Walnut Hill Lane and US-75 anchored by the TreeHouse home improvement store. A second location will follow, at the Shops at Legacy.
The chain is from Houston and was founded in 2008 under the name Ruggles Green, a fast-casual restaurant with burgers, salads, pizza, and pasta. There are currently five locations in the Houston market.
Their profiles are similar. Bellagreen favorites include honey fried goat cheese arugula salad, high-protein hempanadas, and quinoa mac and cheese. Dishes are made-to-order in a scratch kitchen, meaning they can modify for guests with specific dietary needs. Bellagreen also offers gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options.
