One less brunch as Blue Mesa Grill closes most visible Dallas location
There's a major loss in the Park Cities/Dallas brunch scene, as well as for fans of great Southwestern food: The Blue Mesa Grill at 7700 W. Northwest Hwy. in Dallas has closed.
Addison is the original Blue Mesa, but this location opened across the street from NorthPark Center in 1999 — a lifetime and a half in the restaurant world. Who had not met there for brunch, before spending an afternoon shopping at the mall? Who had not celebrated a shower or work party there? No one.
This was the only Blue Mesa location with two floors. But with the restaurant facing the end of its lease, Mesa SW Restaurants, the parent company, decided not to renew.
"After 20 years in business, with all the challenges and expense of a second story location, it was time to move on," says owner Jim Baron. "Since a large portion of our business is outside catering which can come out of any Blue Mesa, it did not make sense to commit to a costly lease and remodel."
This follows the Blue Mesa in Arlington, which closed in May due to a lack of business in the center where it was located. However, there are no plans to close any other locations. So brunch fans can hit up one of the other three Blue Mesa Grills in Addison, Plano, and Fort Worth.
Jim and co-owner Liz Baron say they are committed to continue to provide the best Southwestern food and experience to their loyal customers as they have for the last 30+ years.
Mesa SW also owns 5th & Carroll Events in Fort Worth, and the TNT / Tacos and Tequila chain, which has locations at the Quadrangle in Uptown Dallas and in Austin.
In addition, they also oversee a Blue Mesa Taco and Tequila Bar franchise, which has two airport locations including Terminal E at DFW Airport.
