Dallas native Annie Potasznik spent much of her childhood in Liege, Belgium,where her mother is from. She attended Booker T. Washington High School for thePerforming and Visual Arts and received a dance scholarship from TempleUniversity in Philadelphia. But her time in the City of Brotherly Love was cutshort after a career-ending injury sent her back home to Texas.Potasznik got back on her feet and started pursuing her love of journalism atthe University of North Texas. Prior to earning a degree in broadcastjournalism, she started working as a writer and associate producer for NBCKXAS-TV. After working at the TV station several years, she accepted a positionas the editor of a regional lifestyle publication. NBC came calling again andoffered her an on-air position as the market’s only nightlife correspondent. Her“Around Town” segments featured local hot spots, celebrity chefs, fashiondesigners, music moguls and more.After a decade in the news business, Potasznik has switched gears and accepted aposition as SafeHaven of Tarrant County [http://www.safehaventc.org]’scommunications coordinator. She shares the nonprofits passionate goal to enddomestic violence through safety, support, prevention and social change.
