Holiday Me Time
Where to pamper yourself in Dallas-Fort Worth during this busy holiday season
During the holidays you're likely thinking nonstop about others, but we're here to remind you to pause, breathe, and invest some time in yourself and your own wellbeing.
A lot of people are tempted to put off anything health-related until the New Year, but it's important to remember self-care during one of the year's busiest months. There's even a Dallas Self-Care Holiday Festival on December 3!
With that in mind, here are a few ideas for relaxing, recharging, and rejuvenating right now:
Canyon Ranch Wellness Club, Crescent Hotel Fort Worth
The newly opened — as in just last week — spa is celeb-endorsed and oh-so chic. It's 26,000 square feet with state-of-the-art health and workout equipment, over 100 group fitness classes per week, and a full-service spa and salon. It's membership-only and pretty pricey, but sometimes you just need to treat yourself.
Stretch Zone Dallas, Preston Center
We all know stretching is important, but who among us actually gets on the ground regularly to do it? Or even knows what to stretch, and for how long? And did you know that starting in our 30s, we lose about 1 percent of flexibility each year due to our modern sedentary lifestyle? Stretch Zone directs your session — and the first one is free! — by isolating each muscle, breaking up the "glue" that restricts movement over time.
Hiatus Spa, Dallas-Fort Worth
With four DFW locations — Dallas, Plano, Frisco, and Fort Worth — this popular spa and retreat is known for its H-Circle Club, a $79 monthly membership that entitles you to one essential service a month. The list of services recently expanded to include Botox and Dysport at a major discount in addition to massage, mani/pedi, facial, body wrap, body glow, and acupuncture (where available).
Yoga Nidra at SimpleVeda, Dallas
With just six other students, the weekly small group meditation and yoga sessions offer a restful experience during the deepest of restorative practices. The trademark mediation sessions combine optional hands-on foot, hand, or neck massage; essential oils; restorative movement; breathwork; and mindfulness. Even better, you can try 14 days for $49.
Mokara Spa, Omni PGA Frisco Resort
Get a $150 spa credit when you book the Texas Oasis Spa Package at this destination resort, which debuted earlier this year to great fanfare. While you're enjoying a little staycation, take part in all the holiday happenings on deck for the month of December.
Float Coppell, Coppell
Shut out all the holiday noise and revel in total blissful silence (or music, if you choose) in these deprivation tanks. When you float, your brain supposedly releases dopamine and endorphins while your body gets to reset, de-stress and heal. Afterward, enjoy a private shower, towels, robes, and bath and beauty supplies.
Ash Spa, Bowie House Fort Worth
Another newly opened hotel, Bowie House brings even more Western flair to Fort Worth's Cultural District. Its second-floor spa has several perks that accompany its list of treatments and services, like a complimentary $50 gift certificate with every purchased gift card valued at $200 or greater. And Sunday to Thursday after 4 pm, enjoy a treatment 50 minutes or longer and receive a $50 credit and a welcome Elderflower Spritzer (excludes nail services).
Movement Gyms, Dallas-Fort Worth
Family have you feeling like crawling the walls? Actually do it at these climbing gyms, which welcome both beginners and experience scalers. With six locations around DFW, plus a boutique-style yoga studio and multi-level cardio and weight areas, you can escape the everyday and focus just on you. From now through December 27, 2023, you can buy two passes and get two free. These passes include all-day access to the gym including climbing, yoga classes, fitness classes, and full-service fitness spaces, plus access to 20-plus Movement gym locations nationwide. You also have the option to share passes with friends and family. Limit two purchases per person, passes expire January 1, 2025.
