Pop-Up Party
West Village writes love letter to local brands with Valentine's Day pop-up shop
West Village and Decent are here to save your Valentine's Day with 15 local brands, a handful of art installations, and lots of free beer.
They're presenting the immersive Valentine's Pop-Up Shop on February 9-10, from noon-8 pm each day, in a 4,500-square-foot former restaurant space in West Village's south alley (by Mi Cocina and Magnolia Theatre). The event is free to attend (just RSVP here), and parking is free too.
Here's what else you can expect:
Shopping
Many of the participating brands are creating new and exclusive items just for this shopping party, and onsite personalization is available. You'll find jewelry from Thistle & Ore, Nikki Smith Designs, and Mariell Guzman, ceramics from Helena Haddox, and art and design prints from KB.Illustration, Rob Israel, Ian Wortham, and FresherThan.
Need some new threads for your V-Day festivities? Solace, Ribz Clothing, He.She.Them.Us., Sensitive Feeling, and MuchLove have you covered, as does DeadSoxy with some cheeky socks for the men.
For giftables, it does't get much cooler than handmade wood and metal gifts from AperZaper Art and Novare Studio, while HiRuna Island Soaps has cruelty-free bath and body products. Be surrounded by petals thanks to flower bouquets and succulents from J-Dub Designs.
Select West Village shops will have giveaways and discounts as well, as much as up to 80 percent off.
Artwork
Local artists will be creating murals and installations for the most Instagrammable backdrops, including neon work from James Akers and murals from Mariel Pohlman, Harley Barnes, and current Booker T. Washington student Sam Blumberg.
Food and drink
That's right, we did say "free beer" above. Four Corners Brewing Co. will have complimentary brews for those 21 and up.
If your shopping list includes something sweet, Chocolate Secrets will be on hand with artisanal chocolates and Elizabeth Bakes will have freshly baked cookies for purchase.
Stay and play
Stick around after the pop-up shop (or come early) to have brunch at any of West Village's many restaurants, catch a flick at the Magnolia Theatre, or simply stroll around the area.
