A Grandbaby for the Bushes
Jenna Bush Hager gives birth to George and Laura Bush's first grandchild
Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of George W. Bush and Laura Bush, who live on Daria Drive in Dallas, gave birth to the former president’s first grandchild Saturday night in New York City.
On his Facebook page, the former president released a happy statement:
Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager. … She was born last night, April 13, at 8:43 pm in New York City. We met our beautiful granddaughter today. Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated.”
The baby is named after both grandmothers, which appears to be a Bush family tradition; Jenna and her twin, Barbara, were named after their grandmothers too. She will be called “Mila.”
Jenna, 31, and husband Henry, 34, announced the pregnancy last December on the Today show, where Jenna is a contributing correspondent. She is also an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine and has started a lifestyle blog with Mia Baxter. Jenna also volunteers with UNICEF’s Next Generation campaign.
Henry is the son of former Virginia Lt. Gov. John Hager. He has an MBA from the University of Virginia and works in private equity for KKR, the global investment firm founded by Henry Kravis. The couple lived in Baltimore before they moved to New York.
The Bush twins were raised in Dallas and attended Preston Hollow Elementary before they were educated at the Hockaday School. They finished their education in Austin when their father became governor.
I’m told that the lot next door to Bush home on Daria Drive has been turned into quite the putting green. Are golf lessons in Dallas in little Mila’s future?
