The Power of Art
Dallas power philanthropists raise the bar at amazing Art for Advocacy auction
The annual Art for Advocacy fundraiser has a reputation for being one of the best parties in town. The auction highlights the unique role art therapy plays in healing the child abuse victims served at Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.
At this year's soiree at Fashion Industry Gallery, DJ Lucy Wrubel kept the crowd of 600-plus on their feet, and a surprise performance by Danielle Georgiou Dance Group set the tone for a night of hope and healing. Guests — includingJamie Singer, Selwyn Rayzor, Rich Moses, Paige Westhoff, Brian Bolke, Faisal Halum, Kim and Evan Wyly, Stephanie and John Roberts, and Corrie and Todd Strosnider — enjoyed eats by Food Glorious Food Catering, a variety of signature cocktails and, of course, some pretty kick-ass art.
This year's silent art auction featured works by more than 100 emerging and established artists — Paul Abbott, Sofia Arnold, Chad Attie, Cordelia Bailey, Sibylle Bauer, Rob Belanger, Johannes Boekhoudt, Paul Booker, Cabe Booth, Jim Bowman, Chris Bramel, Todd Camplin, Lisa Cardenas, Emil Cerullo and Brian Cobble, to name but a few — and raised a record in sales.
In total, the event netted more than $350,000 in support of the art therapy program and other crucial services. Since 2007, Art For Advocacy has contributed more than $2 million to the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.
