Dallas chocolatier Kate Weiser gets a thumbs up from Oprah Winfrey
A holiday treat from Dallas chocolatier Kate Weiser Chocolate has hit the big time.
Carl the Snowman, a cute confection you add to heated milk to make hot chocolate, landed a spot in the 2018 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, and has made Oprah Winfrey's annual list of "Favorite Things."
"Just place this hunk of a chocolate man into a pot of milk, turn up the heat, and watch him melt into a few mugs' worth of rich cocoa," Winfrey's list says.
Carl the Snowman, you are about to sell out.
Founder Kate Weiser introduced the treat in 2014 with an initial run of 1,000. She's now up to a run of more than 35,000, each still handmade, which you can see in this YouTube video.
Each snowman is six inches tall, a shell made from dark chocolate, with hot cocoa mix and mini marshmallows inside. One Carl makes enough drinking chocolate for four to five people, and sells for $38.
Carl the Snowman is also available in 42 Neiman Marcus stores across the country, including downtown Dallas, NorthPark, Fort Worth, and the Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.
