The fourth annual Art From the Heart Celebrity Art Auction and Benefit in the Design District was a vibrant night of wining, dining and dancing to raise funds for Dallas Challenge, a local organization that provides programming to help high-risk youth avoid drugs, alcohol and jail. Leading the charitable charge were affable emcee Jody Dean of 98.7 KLUV and event co-chairs Molly Nolan and Brandon DeShong.
National and local celebrities — including Lisa Loeb, Drew Waters, John Castro, Matt Nordgren, Rhonda Sargent Chambers, Aaron Yoo, Gina Miller, Hilary Kennedy, Melisa and Maddie Poe, Abraham Salum, Dunia Borga, Mico Rodriquez, Keith Hicks, Steve Kemble —put on their creativity caps to produce one-of-a-kind works for auction. Young and already established artists also contributed pieces.
Among those browsing the works were Paige Montogomery, Alissa Martine, Tiffaney Dale Hunter, Helen Manning and Tim James. We also spied LeeAnne Locken posing proudly with her own work, while renowned artist Rolando Diaz captivated supporters with some live painting.
After bidding on the art and "wearable" auction items such as a Bottega Veneta handbag and Versace shopping experience, guests took their moves to the dance floor, where DJ Junior from KISS FM mixed the beats. All tallied, the event raised $60,000 for Dallas Challenge.
