Award-winning Dallas bagel restaurant
Starship Bagel is about to soak up some rays of Guy Fieri sunshine. The Lewisville-based bagel chain will appear on Food Network in early June in an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, the series hosted by Guy Fieri.
The
episode featuring Starship will debut on June 6. It's called “All Kinds of Cookin'" and the description is as follows, with the relevant information about Starship Bagel in bold:
"This trip, Guy Fieri's diggin' cheffed-up eats made all kinds of ways! First up, a DDD alum and his wife launched a modern culinary spot in Decatur, Ga., sourcing local ingredients for a craveable coffee-dusted venison, the-bomb bordelaise-drizzled bone marrow and savory sautéed snails.
In Lewisville, Texas, a bagel joint is bringing sci-fi vibes and legit New York style to the Lone Star State, toppin' their dynamite dough with basil and fermented jalapeño schmears. Plus, there's authentic Indian in Baton Rouge, La., platin' lights-out lamb kebabs, top-notch chutney and mouthwatering Malabar shrimp.."
Food Network does not disclose the names of the restaurants that appear on its shows in advance. Restaurants are not allowed to reveal their participation without approval from Food Network. A representative from Starship Bagel did not respond to a request for comment.
However, Starship Bagel has already been established as one of seven DFW restaurants that Fieri and his DD&D crew
visited in December 2024, when they taped segments for future episodes such as this.
Staship has earned many accolades including back-to-back awards at BagelFest, a national competition in New York, first winning for Best Bagel in 2023, and then best schmear in 2024. Their winning schmear was none other than basil.
They're also #1 famously from Lewisville, and #2 with their outer space starship theme have the "sci-fi vibes" that the DDD writeup references. The network or the restaurant may not officially confirm, but who needs them?
Starship Bagel has enoyed a meteoric rise since founder Oren Salomon, a young entrepreneur with a passion for making great bagels, opened his first location in Lewisville at 1108 W. Main St. in 2021. He went on to open a second location in downtown Dallas in 2023, and a third location in North Dallas in 2024. The menu includes trademark items such as the Millennial Falcon with tomato, avocado, sprouts, pickled red onion, and crushed red pepper; and the SuperNova Lox & Bagel featuring Acme Nova Lox, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and capers.
Starship was also among the 10 restaurants in Dallas that participated in a national promotion celebrating Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants in 2024, with select restaurants called on to create their own version of the cartoon's signature Krabby Patty sandwich.
Starship Bagel is now the sixth Dallas-area restaurant with a DDD episode locked in: East Dallas Asian restaurant Hello Dumpling was
featured in a show that aired on February 21. Fine-dining restaurant Rye was featured in a show that aired on March 7. Slow Bone, the BBQ restaurant from chef Jeffery Hobbs, appeared on an episode on April 11. El Palote, the pioneering Mexican vegan restaurant, will appear in a segment debuting on May 2. Smoke 'N Ash, the mom-and-pop barbecue restaurant in Arlington, will appear in an episode debuting on May 23.
There's only one Dallas restaurant left: Angry Dog.
“Triple-D” has been airing on The Food Network since 2006 and has spotlighted at least 1,000 kitchens in all 50 states.
“All Kinds of Cookin'” premieres on Friday, June 6 at 8 pm.
