Barbara is the story of Barbara Wolff, a talented young doctor in East Germany in the early 1980s who wants to defect from her country. Even as she finds it hard to trust anybody around her, she still throws herself into her job with every ounce of her being. Barbara is Germany’s official submission for Best Foreign Language film at the Academy Awards.
