It was a golden — and silver — night on the red carpet at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards [https: /www.goldenglobes.com/]. There weren't a lot of bold colors, but there were a lot of cold shoulders. Gowns tended to be less form-fitting, but were more likely to have a plunging neckline. And surprise of surprises — Sofia Vergara didn't wear a fishtail mermaid gown. While it was a bit of a blah evening fashion-wise (it seemed like the specter of the upcoming Trump presidency cast a gloomy shadow on the evening among the strongly pro-Hillary Hollywood crowd), there was still plenty to dissect. Here are some of our favorite looks of the evening, along with some fashion misses and a few pleasant surprises. --- Just like her Sex and the City character, Sarah Jessica Parker looked like a distressed bride left at the altar again in an ill-fitting white Vera Wang gown with what looked like torn sleeves. Some fashion critics thought her braided hairstyle was a tribute to Princess Leia in the wake of Carrie Fisher's death, but the actress, who now stars in HBO's Divorce, said it was modeled after a photograph of Parker's mother "wearing her hair like this.”
