1. Lululemon comes under fresh fire for banning online customers. Lululemon Athletica, recently dubbed one of the most hated companies in America, has once again found new ways to anger its customers. The latest PR debacle for the high-end yoga clothier involves a bizarrely zealous approach to resale policy enforcement.
2. Catchy name revealed for Uptown restaurant-bar going into Primo's space. A crucial piece of the puzzle on the restaurant-bar going into the old Primo's Tex-Mex space on McKinney Avenue has emerged: the name. And that name is So & So's. Co-owner Brandon Hays confirmed the name, but he was oblique about the etymology of the name, the concept, menu and chef.
3. Unexpected Dallas restaurant makes semifinals in James Beard Awards 2014. A surprise restaurant in Dallas made the cut as a semifinalist for the 2014 James Beard Awards, announced by the James Beard Foundation on February 19. The restaurant: Casa Rubia, which earned a spot in the Best New Restaurant category.
4. Whole Foods Market's expansion plans include places never before imagined. Whole Foods Market wants to be a whole lot bigger. Three years ago, the Austin-based natural and organic food retailer set a goal of someday operating 1,000 stores in the United States. It recently upped that target to 1,200 — a 20 percent jump.
5. Dallas-Fort Worth dominates list of best new restaurants in Texas. In its March 2014 issue, Texas Monthly announced its selections for best new restaurants and bars in Texas. Led by food critic Patricia Sharpe, the TM team ate its way from Marshall to Midland, tracking down the best joints to wine and dine. Dallas-Fort Worth took four of the 10 slots.
Casa Rubia earned a semifinalist spot in the Best New Restaurant category of the 2014 James Beard Awards.
