Weekend Brunch Report
When it comes to brunch, that delicious late-morning (sometimes early afternoon!) meal, we all have our favorite place to visit. Dallas in particular is known for its delightful brunch scene, with an array of restaurants offering everything from indulgent lemon ricotta pancakes to traditional eggs Benedict.
To give you some inspiration, here is Dave Perry-Miller’s personal and well-researched list of Dallas’ best brunch spots.
Fine Dining: Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek, Turtle Creek
The atmosphere is dazzling, and the food is divine. Executive chef Bruno Davaillon offers an irresistibly elegant tasting menu with amuse-bouche, starters, entrees and desserts. Brunch is from 11:30 am to 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Home Cooking with a Spin: Origin Kitchen + Bar,Uptown
There’s variety aplenty on the eclectic menu: Green Eggs and Ham Sam, Peruvian hash, kale salad and even grass-fed burgers. Also, we love that local foods are a priority here, including sources for eggs, coffee, honey and cheese. Brunch is served daily.
Homemade Southern Cuisine: Smoke, Kessler Park
This is the real homemade deal. Smoked meats are available on all of the menus, and for brunch, you can’t miss out on the pulled whole hog BBQ eggs Benedict or smoked brisket cornbread hash. Additionally, chef Tim Byers’ book, Smoke, shares his wisdom on the art of cooking with smoke. Brunch is from 8 am to 3 pm.
Traditional Local Breakfast Menu: Garden Cafe,East Dallas
Breakfast is served all day here. The menu includes eggs any style (all from local, cage-free hens), pancakes and French toast, chicken fried steak, and homemade pies. Garden Cafe is open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 am to 3 pm.
Italian Fare: Princi Italia, Preston Hollow
Located in Preston Royal Village, this restaurant serves seasonal Italian fare such as pizzas pulled from a wood-burning oven and homemade pasta. Brunch is on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.
