1. TNT's Dallas midseason finale sets Southfork — not series — on fire. This week's episode was the half-season finale as the show takes a hiatus until August 18. Yes, there's a lot of action. But there's no big story arc to tie episodes together week to week. No characters to love or hate enough to make the show a must-see. Elaine Liner breaks down why TNT's Dallas is floundering in its reboot.
2. Unassuming Plano restaurant lands on list of best dim sum in America. In its April issue, Travel + Leisure deemed J.S. Chen's in Plano worthy of its America's Best Dim Sum roundup. Dim sum, in which servers wheel around carts stocked with dumplings, buns, spare ribs, rolls and other delicacies, represents a walk on the wild side for staid T+L.
3. Highland Park Presbyterian Church sues for control of its $30 million property. HPPC has left the national Presbyterian denomination for a smaller, more conservative sect. The Presbyterian Church (USA) believes it should retain ownership of HPPC's church property, but that isn't sitting well with Highland Park Presbyterian, which has 4,000 active members and is one of the largest Presbyterian churches in America. A jury trial date has been set for October.
4. The best restaurants in Dallas for Easter Sunday brunch. If you prefer your Easter eggs scrambled with a mimosa on the side, then we have the list for you. From casual Tex-Mex to formal fine dining, these Dallas restaurants have you and your family covered for Easter brunching. Act fast, though, as some locations require reservations.
5. Sfuzzi in Las Colinas gets snazzy facelift complete with new name and menu. Four months after the Uptown Sfuzzi closed, its swanky big brother in Las Colinas will disappear. In its place a new concept shall be borne, called Table & Tavern. The switchover takes place in May.
