Editor's note:Another week has come and gone, and there's a lot we all probably missed. But we're looking out for you, kid. Here are the most popular stories from this past week:
1. Where to eat in Dallas right now: 10 hot restaurants for June. In her monthly report on where to eat, Teresa Gubbins looks at the Dallas restaurants making headlines, including barbecue hot spot Pecan Lodge, city council favorite Rudy's Chicken and New York import Le Bilboquet.
2. Texas jury acquits man who shot Craigslist escort after she refused sex. In 2009, Ezekiel Gilbert shot 23-year-old Craigslist escort Lenora Ivie Frago when she took his money but refused to have sex with him. A Bexar County jury bought the argument that Gilbert was exercising his legal right in Texas "to use deadly force to recover stolen property during a nighttime theft" and acquitted him on June 5. Frago died about seven months after the shooting.
3. Monsanto pushback: North Texas farmer opts to save his own seed. To combat the spread of genetically engineered crops from agribusiness giant Monsanto, aspiring North Texas farmer Marshall Hinsley is saving his own seeds and throwing his support behind organizations such as Seed Savers Exchange, Botanical Interests and Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.
4. New York import Le Bilboquet brings French back to Travis Walk. Teresa "Scoop" Gubbins takes a look at the new French restaurant that moved into the space formerly occupied by L'Ancestral in Travis Walk. A few staffers from the original Le Bilboquet, open for 27 years in New York's Upper East Side, have landed in Dallas and and intend to re-create menu favorites such as crab and avocado salad, foie gras terrine, and endive with Roquefort cheese.
