    Simply Irresistible

Dallas Farmers Market unwraps popular home decor and fashion store from Waco

There are fans, and then there are fans. Three separate customers recently flew from Australia to shop at Simply Irresistible, a home decor and apparel boutique with two locations in Waco that stocks one-of-a-kind, vintage, urban, and contemporary pieces.

Dallas shoppers won't have to go to nearly those lengths, or even make the drive to Waco, once Simply Irresistible opens inside the Dallas Farmers Market on September 1.

It's the first location for the store outside of Waco, and owner Mathew Urquizo knew immediately that the DFM would be the perfect fit.

"The first time I visited the DFM in early January, I knew Simply Irresistible had to be a part of it," he says. "I knew our whole vision and style could blend in effortlessly with the environment and surrounding shops — all of which I fell in love with right away."

From bedding to tableware, jewelry to ensembles, the goods are a reflection of not just what's trending, but of what's timeless. There's seasonal decor as well, along with hand-lettered and drawn signs, greeting cards, T-shirts, and kitchen towels from Whiski Designs, which started out in Deep Ellum. Apparel spans all ages and sizes, and includes a wide range of accessories.

Urquizo is joined by his sister Megan, mother Petra (who functions as the lead designer), and a small staff that reinforces the family-run business feel. But don't let the intimate staff size fool you — Simply Irresistible's Waco showrooms are each more than 20,000 square feet, and the Dallas Farmers Market location promises to be a treasure trove of delightful finds.

"A good rule of thumb is, if you see it, buy it," says Urquizo. "A majority of our furniture, home decor, and apparel is a limited run, so once it's gone, it's gone!"

Stop by for Simply Irresistible's soft opening September 1-2 to enjoy refreshments and hourly drawings for sweet prizes. Once open, the shop's hours will be Monday to Friday, 10 am - 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9 am - 6 pm.

If you see something you like, you should buy it — because it may not last!

Dallas Habitat For Humanity home store gets all the garage doors

It's doors doors doors at the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore, the discount home furnishings store at 2800 N. Hampton Rd., thanks to a charitable donation from Perry Homes, a major Dallas-area homebuilder.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores is a chain of home goods and hardware stores that sell new and donated items on discount, with a constantly-changing inventory of furniture, appliances, building materials, lighting, and home decor at up to 90 percent off retail price.

It's a favorite for homeowners, landlords, contractors, interior designers, and recyclers who prefer to re-use rather than buy new. Lighting is always expensive and they often have amazing fixtures, from places like hotels that have undergone renovations or stores that have closed, at discount rates.

In Dallas there are also stores in Lake Highlands, Garland, and Walnut Hill/North Dallas.

Perry Homes donated more than 400 new garage doors, valued at almost $500,000, to support Dallas Habitat’s mission to provide safe, affordable housing for families throughout the community.

The garage doors are valued at $1,000 or more each, but will be sold for 70 percent off. Models include

    • Clopay Classic Steel Long Panel 8 ft x 7 ft Non-Insulated White Garage Door without Windows
    • Clopay Classic Steel Long Panel 16 ft x 7 ft Non-Insulated White Garage Door without Windows
    • Steel Carriage House Garage Doors - Clopay Coachman

According to a spokesperson from Perry Homes, they became available following shifts in the company's supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Rather than allowing this inventory to go unused, we saw a meaningful opportunity to support local families and further strengthen our ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity," the spokesperson says.

Perry Homes has an ongoing partnership with the Dallas Area for Habitat for Humanity that includes projects such as the recent Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Dallas 2025 project, in which the organization spends a day building a home for a local Dallas family.

In addition to selling the doors, Dallas Area Habitat For Humanity can use them on future builds.
