New farmers market will soon bear fruit in Vickery Meadow neighborhood
White Rock Local Market has partnered with the Vickery Meadow Improvement District (VMID) and Half Price Books to launch Vickery Meadow Local Market. Look for it on Sundays, from 9 am to 2 pm, on the northwest corner of the Half Price Books flagship store on Northwest Highway.
The new market debuts on September 21 and continues through December 14.
Vickery Meadow Local Market will offer healthy foods as well as arts and crafts, while developing new opportunities for urban and rural producers. The organizers will work together to create a market that reflects the rich cultural diversity of the neighborhood.
Its placement on Sundays is helpful for those who can't make the White Rock market on Saturdays.
"We are looking forward to the new Vickery Meadow Local Market and our partnership with the Vickery Meadow Improvement District as well as Half Price Books," says Sarah Perry, White Rock Local Market director. "Farmers markets inherently nurture a community through social interactions while providing small businesses the opportunity to grow, in line with the mission of the VMID."
Vickery Meadow Local Market is currently seeking vendors for the initial season. To apply, visit the White Rock Local Market website.
The Vickery Meadow Improvement District is a partnership of property owners, working together to deliver a variety of improvements to the neighborhood. Bordered by Northwest Highway, Skillman Street, I-75 and Royal Lane, the community is about three square miles.
