TEDxSMU Lineup Revealed
TEDxSMU 2014 speakers include rock 'n' roll insiders, superbug scientists and flamenco dancers
Big idea conference TEDxSMU has announced its 2014 speaker lineup. The selection of scholars, performers and musicians will offer their take on the theme "Strangely Familiar" on November 1 at Dallas City Performance Hall.
The day-long conference begins at 9 am and runs until 6 pm. Breakfast and lunch are provided, along with ample breaks conducive to conversations. Tickets, which cost $150 and include access to the after-party, can be purchased online.
Now in its sixth year, TEDxSMU has morphed into much more than merely a one-day experience.
“Whatever we thought we were starting with TEDxSMU in 2009, we know now that it has been the catalyst for an entire community of people who are looking for new ways to view the world,” director Heather Hankamer said in a release.
In addition to the signature annual conference, TEDxSMU holds idea salons throughout the year. Plus, Hankamer said the open auditions for a spot in the main conference and TEDxKids@SMU “have taken on a life of their own” and are increasingly popular.
“The sense of adventure we felt that first year just keeps going,” she said.
