    Here's an amazing stat: Within Addison's 4.4 square miles, you will find more than 180 restaurants. From Tex-Mex to Italian and American to barbecue, there are nearly 200 mouthwatering options just waiting for you to come in, sit down, and dig in.

    Of course, it can be difficult to stay on top of Addison's dining scene, especially with new eateries opening all the time. Here's a closer look at five new additions to the neighborhood — and try not to drool.

    Austin's Bar-B-Que
    It's smoked meat heaven here, especially if you love brisket and ribs. Owners Robert and Valerie Austin also turn out pulled pork, chicken, turkey, and sausage (both regular and jalapenño), all available by the pound or in sandwich form. Of course, sides are a key element to any good barbecue joint and Austin's doesn't disappoint. Made in-house are mac and cheese, mustard potato salad, black-eyed pea salad with corn, jalapeño pinto beans, fresh green beans with new potatoes, smoked baked beans with meat, and coleslaw.

    And the pedigree behind this new spot? Robert has more than 25 years experience working for the Baker's Ribs chain and opened Uptown Bar-B-Que in 2018. Valerie has tended bar at high-end spots including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Palomino's at the Crescent Hotel.

    Duck Donuts
    Known as the fastest-growing doughnut shop in the U.S., this concept from Duck, North Carolina, features a "duckzillion" different flavor combinations. But it all started with the quintessential Duck Donut, a freshly made vanilla cake doughnut that you coat, top, and drizzle as you wish.

    In addition to seasonal favorites (right now you can sample the Harvest assortment, which includes chopped apple, streusel topping, and salted caramel drizzle and pumpkin icing with vanilla drizzle), you can also try the OBX, a "Donut Breakfast Sandwich," or a Donut Sundae made with premium Breyers ice cream.

    Herrera's Tex-Mex
    One of Dallas' oldest Mexican favorites has traveled north, opening on Belt Line Road and serving all the beloved classics. This location is owned by Gil Bonifaz and his mother, Cynthia — they are descendants of Amelia Herrera, who opened the original restaurant on Maple Drive in 1971. The menu is large, with all the Tex-Mex standards: tacos, tamales, great salsas, crispy chips.

    Lupe Tortilla
    The Houston favorite landed in DFW first in Las Colinas, but now Addison gets a taste of the obsession. In addition to a menu of Tex-Mex staples built on hand-pressed tortillas, there are also chipotle smoked ribs, a three-pepper cheese steak, crab-stuffed avocado, grilled mahi mahi, cedar-plank salmon, and lobster tacos.

    There's an entire section dedicated to vegetarian dishes, including spinach-artichoke enchiladas, mushroom tacos al carbon, vegetable fajitas with portobello mushrooms, and even vegetarian puffy tacos filled with Romaine lettuce hearts.

    Sidecar Social
    Imagine 20,000 square feet of live music, bocce ball, ping pong, cornhole, karaoke, huge TVs, and more, all complemented by scratch-made food and craft cocktails. This wonderland for adults dishes up meals like "adult mac 'n' cheese," Nashville hot chicken sandwich, charred corn guacamole, smoked burnt end nachos, wood-oven grilled flatbreads, chicken wings, grilled salmon over lemon dill mashed potatoes, and sirloin with a port peppercorn demi glaze.

    Still want more? Drink specials include $5 craft cocktails on Tuesdays, $5 martinis on Wednesdays, and half-price wine and happy hour drinks from open until 6 pm on weekdays. There's even a weatherized dog-friendly patio so your pup can join in on the fun.

    Celeb-owned L.A. pizza chain Pizzana to open in north Dallas

    Toppings are robust and very California-style.

    An acclaimed pizza from California is sliding into north Dallas: Pizzana, the small pizza chain from the founders of Sprinkles Cupcakes, will open a shop at Dallas' Preston Forest Shopping Center, at 11700 Preston Rd #732, taking over a storefront previously occupied by Haystack Burgers, which closed in September 2024.

    According to a Pizzana representative, the restaurant will open in fall 2025.

    It'll be the second location in the Dallas area, following a first that opened at 3219 Knox St. in November 2022 — the first outside of California at the time it opened. They've since expanded to Houston, opening a location there in March 2024.

    Pizzana debuted in Los Angeles in 2017, and stars the expertise of pizzaiolo Daniele Uditi, who has appeared on Hulu's "Best in Dough" pizza competition series.

    Described as neo-Neopolitan, Pizzana’s dough is fermented for 48 hours and cooked in a wood-burning oven. It has a more crispy crust than traditional Neapolitan, which can sometimes be a little damp for the American palate. Their goal is to create a light, easy-to-digest crust still sturdy enough to pick up with one hand.

    Toppings range from traditional such as to Pizzana originals such as Uditi's signature cacio e pepe pizza, making him a trendsetter on that very buzzy pasta and spawning copycat pizzas far and wide.

    There's a regular Margherita with San Marzano tomato, fior de latte, and fresh basil leaves, but also Neo-Margherita that's like a Margherita but with an extra "basic crumb" — like a toasty basil grit.

    The menu also features antipasti, salads, and desserts. There are two vegan pizzas, and they also offer a gluten-free crust. They have beer, wine, and cocktails with Italian flair including their Sorrento Spritz, Negroni di Napoli, and Limoncello Martini.

    The Knox location can be a tight squeeze, especially for their signature "pizza towers" — little swing-out platforms for hot pies to be presented and stacked above the surface of the table — but the new location promises a little more breathing room.

    When they made their Dallas debut, Candace Nelson called Dallas "a very special city" that had already been so welcoming to her Sprinkles Cupcakes venture, before righteously boasting that "Pizzana’s menu will satisfy any carb craving and everything on the menu is worth the indulgence.”
