Want to lasso a hilltop mansion built for a country music legend? "King of Country" George Strait — a music icon whose hit songs include "All My Ex’s Live in Texas," "Amarillo by Morning," and "Ocean Front Property" — has put his San Antonio estate on the market.
The property sits on 12.2 acres in San Antonio’s posh Dominion neighborhood. It features a main house with three bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and two half-baths, plus a casita with one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room, a kitchenette, and a fireplace.
In the main house, the owners’ retreat features his-and-her bathrooms and closets.
Other highlights of the estate include:
- Fourteen hand-sculpted masonry fireplaces, including one in each bedroom.
- An infinity-edge pool overlooking downtown San Antonio and the Hill Country.
- A home gym with a bathroom and sauna.
- A sports court.
- A walk-in “safe room.”
Arizona sculptor-turned-architect Bill Tull, who died in 2000, and his crew relocated to San Antonio for two years to build the Strait estate, which was completed in 1995.
“What is so special about this house is not really who owns it. It’s special because of the amazing thought and attention to detail that was put in to every step of the build. This home truly is one of a kind and can never be recreated,” Tamara Strait, a luxury real estate agent with Strait Luxury and Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty, said in a release. Tamara Strait is George’s daughter-in-law.
A list price for the estate wasn’t available, although it’s been appraised at nearly $4 million. In an interview with Mansion Global, Tamara Strait declined to confirm the price, but said it’s more “like three times that.” There’s no word on why the Strait family is selling it.
George Strait is selling his 12.2-acre estate.
