The Dallas Women’s Foundation (DWF) needs your help giving credit where credit is due. The organization is currently accepting nominations for its 2015 Young Leader Award and encourages everyone who thinks they have a deserving candidate to submit an application.
In our community, the young professional philanthropic scene is gaining enormous traction year after year, yet DWF noticed a void in recognition for this group of adults who are just getting started in their quest to make the world a better place.
“In addition to our Maura Women Helping Women Awards, we really wanted to honor younger women for the innovative work they were doing,” says DWF president and CEO Roslyn Dawson Thompson. “We know that Dallas’ young women are true leaders, and the committee is always faced with the challenging decision of choosing the Young Leader Award recipients.”
Who deserves a nomination? In addition to being under the age of 40, Young Leader Award recipients are those who create paths of opportunity for other women to follow, Dawson Thompson says. Winners exhibit breakthrough leadership, and they are achieving success in their field, initiative or sector.
As examples, look to 2014 recipients Myiesha Taylor, M.D., founder and president of Artemis Medical Society, and Brittany Merrill Underwood, founder of the Akola Project.
Nomination forms are available online and must be submitted by December 19. Award recipients will be honored at the Leadership Forum and Awards Dinner presented by AT&T on April 30, 2015, at the Omni Dallas hotel, featuring keynote speaker Joyce Roché.
