Wilkinson Center helps break the cycle of poverty in Dallas with dignity
Sara needed help with reading. Her parents divorced, and she and her brother needed counseling and after-school care. Sara’s mother was referred to Wilkinson Center’s CLIMB After-School Program, where Sara received academic help.
She and her brother also received back-to-school shoes, backpacks, school supplies and Christmas toys. Sara even visited the Dallas Opera and was cast as an extra in Aida.
Thanks to the Wilkinson Center, Sara’s self-confidence has been renewed. A leading poverty rescue and prevention agency for the working poor, Wilkinson Center serves more than 14,000 people annually, mainly in East and Southeast Dallas. The center offers hope, inspiration, and the basic necessities and tools to empower its clients to become self-sufficient and improve their lives.
