More Refined Boutique
Uptown consignment shop starts anew in designer Dallas neighborhood
A favorite of frugal Dallas fashionistas, Uptown Consignment packed up its discounted designer duds and hung them in a new home in the Design District. In addition to a new address — 2124 Farrington St., Ste. 100 — the shop has a new name: Refinery Consignment Boutique.
Still a destination for finds ranging from Chanel fur coats and Christian Louboutin peep-toes to Just Cavalli shirts and Judith Leiber handbags, the store has added luxe vintage consignment pieces to the mix.
Sisters Camille Umland and Connie Dieb opened the store opened in May 2010. Dieb has since moved on to other ventures, and Umland is now partnering with Eric Oliver Jr. and Cheryl Lutz.
“Cheryl has her own boutique in Pennsylvania that’s more focused on vintage style, and she’s bringing a different perspective to us,” Umland says. “We’ve been more mainstream ready-to-wear, and now we’re adding vintage flair and educating our consumers on mixing and matching their own styles.”
Oliver’s background is as a consultant for fashion styling and event production. He’s been working with Umland for almost four years.
“The new store is about the same size as our old space, but the layout is more optimized,” Oliver says. “We want to focus on having more trunk shows and events in our space.”
Refinery Consignment Boutique continues to offer fabulous finds for every occasion in all price ranges, including clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories. And it’s not just women’s fashion; the store is also full of men’s brands, like Salvatore Ferragamo, Ralph Lauren, Cole Haan, Allen Edmonds, and Bruno Magli.
Higher-end items get a 50-50 split between the store and the seller, while lower-end items are 55-45. Everything in the shop gets marked down for huge quarterly sales that attract style mavens far and wide.
The store is open for business now, and there will be a soft opening mixer on January 21 from 7-9 pm, when shoppers will receive a 10 percent discount on any purchase. The grand opening date will be announced that night.
