The mission of Family Compass is to build healthy families and a strong North Texas community by preventing child abuse and neglect. They believe that every child is born with the fundamental right to a healthy family and environment, the opportunity to succeed in school, and the capacity to experience life without violence.

Family Compass is the largest nonprofit in North Texas dedicated to the mission of child-abuse prevention, with the sole purpose of keeping vulnerable children from entering the overburdened child welfare system. They enter the lives of vulnerable families that are at risk for abuse and implement nationally recognized, proven programs the work in synergy to keep children safe and out of the child welfare system. The GAP program hosts a group connection once a month for its clients, teens, and parents. These groups allow clients to get together to support one another in their roles as parents and teens. Each month the parent educators provide a topic of interest with a speaker and a parent-child activity.
