Trinity River Mission (TRM) provides educational and social opportunities that inspire students and their families to dream, believe, and achieve. TRM is an after-school organization that uses intergenerational programming and a "second home" atmosphere to create a culture of achievement for over 250 low-income, majority-Hispanic families in West Dallas annually, impacting the lives of 550-plus K-12th graders.

TRM is, by far, the largest after-school program in West Dallas. While TRM's primary focus is to promote academic growth through after-school programs, the organization offers so much more than three hours of homework help during the school year. It is a community institution for West Dallas families. TRM understands the best way to promote academic success is to support every area of a child's life. This is why services include warm meals, school supplies and uniforms, social-emotional development classes, character and leadership workshops, paid internships and career counseling, college scholarships and campus tours, civic engagement activities (i.e. attending city council meetings), out-of-state trips, family retreats, adult education classes for TRM parents, and more.

The national initiative, Excelencia in Education, has thrice recognized TRM (2019, 2018, and 2014) as one of the most effective programs in the U.S. at increasing academic opportunities, achievement, and college success for Latino students. TRM was also a recipient of the 2015 West Dallas Chamber of Commerce Legendary Award, in recognition of its relentless commitment, dedication, and contributions to the West Dallas community. On average, 98 percent of TRM students graduate from high school, 95 percent pass to the next grade level, 90 percent enroll in college, and 90 percent of students who begin at TRM in kindergarten or first grade stay through graduation. The majority of students participate in multiple programs, and TRM has a 90 percent retention rate.

TRM is always in need of and appreciative of volunteers who dedicate their time, their hearts, and their passions to inspiring the students. While they are most in need of tutors and mentors, there are a multitude of ways you can get involved and support TRM's mission.
