The Sammons Center for the Arts will present an evening of live jazz entertainment on the first Wednesday of October, November and December, each concert featuring the best and brightest jazz musicians in North Texas.
Concert Schedule:
October 2: "Jazz Legends & Rising Stars," featuring an opening set by rising star Jazzmeia Horn and her band, The Artistry of Jazz Horn, joined on stage by Roger Boykin on keyboard, Braylon Lacy on bass and Jason Thomas on drums.
The second set will feature the Riggs/Slater Jazz Quartet, with legends James Riggs on saxophone and Neil Slater on piano, accompanied by Jeff Eckles on bass and Nolan Byrd on drums.
November 6: “Solo Virtuosos – Guitar, Bass & Blues,” with the upright bass of Drew Phelps Electric Guitar Project opening the concert. Rhett Butler brings his riveting solo guitar performance as the second set.
December 4: “Jazz Icons – Salute to Baker, Mulligan & Monk,” featuring the Akiro Sato Quartet led by trumpet player Akira Sato interpreting the cool jazz collaboration of Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan. Dave Zoller and Evidence perform the music of the great Thelonious Monk.
Tickets include complimentary valet parking, coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks and a light meal. Seating is general admission.
