A group of neighbors in Los Angeles search for human connection with intriguing results in Finding Neighbors, a clever comedy-drama by Academy Award winning sound engineer turned writer/director Ron Judkins.
Sam (Michael O’Keefe) is a once-successful graphic novelist struggling with writer’s block, a mid-life crisis and a crumbling marriage to his wife Mary (Catherine Dent). He finds himself pulled in different directions by his neighbors Sherrie (Julia Mond), a flirty distraction, and Jeff (Blake Bashoff), a young gay man with his own romantic troubles. This unlikely camaraderie leads to some ridiculous misunderstandings, as well as surprising insights.
Ron Judkins, Catherine Dent and producer Jennifer Day Young will be in attendance. Former Dallasite and SMU graduate Judkins has won two Academy Awards for Best Sound (Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan), and has been nominated for Best Sound for War of the Worlds, Schindler’s List and Lincoln. Ron’s directorial work includes The Hi-Line, which won awards at several festivals around the country, and the documentary 24 Peaces, which features interviews with Desmond Tutu and Deepak Chopra.
