The ennui of everyday life, the perils of old age, and WW2 survivors and Nazi criminals collide in director Alvaro Brechner’s second feature. Jacob Kaplan (played brilliantly by Hector Noguera) embarks on a mission, determined to hunt down a notorious Nazi believed to have fled to South America, all in an attempt to make up for his fading glory and life.
Thanks to a smart script, touching performances, and the beautiful scenery of Uruguay, Brechner crafts a story that transcends the usual slice-of-life approach, ultimately making audiences enjoy Mr. Kaplan’s last hurrah as much as himself.
