In 1982, at 11-years-old, Eric Zala and Chris Strompolos began a shot for shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark. They spent the next seven summers of their childhood shooting the film, saving their allowances and recruiting younger siblings and friends to participate. They reshot every single scene except one: the infamous Flying Wing explosion at the film’s finale.
Years went by and their film, Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation, became a cult hit after a rare screening in Austin, Texas. Now in their early 40s, Eric, Chris and many of the original cast and crew reunite to complete their film and capture that last missing scene.
Directors Jeremy Coon and Tim Skousen cleverly follow Eric and Chris on this adventure of moviemaking, digging into their friendship and childhood dreams. Relationships and jobs are strained and pushed to their limits as the duo work to complete this seemingly impossible life-long goal.
