2015 Dragon Boat, Kite, and Lantern Festival

At the recommendation of the City of Irving, because of lake condition concerns after recent floods in the area, the DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival has been canceled on June 7. Festival organizers hope to reschedule sometime later this summer.

The Dragon Boat, Kite, and Lantern Festival has become one of the largest events focusing on raising diversity awareness in the Southwest. It features cultural performances, an international costumes parade, interactive activities, lantern riddles and carnival-type games.

In addition to the exciting dragon boat race, the festival will feature kite flying and shuttlecock demonstration and competition. Various cultural classes such as kite making, Chinese embroidery, the Mandarin language, counting with abacus and many other exhibitions. Visitors can also enjoy the gondola ride on the beautiful Lake Carolyn, mascots in panda costumes and more surprises.

Throughout the festival venue, guests can also indulge in a smorgasbord of ethnic cuisine and are invited to participate in an hourly raffle drawing with valuable grand prizes.
