Flamenco music and dance are riveting Spanish art forms that are the focus of a weeklong festival. Spotlighting heart-pounding percussion lightning fast footwork, and internationally renowned musicians, the festival celebrates a sophisticated and intense art form.

Festival deadliner Lakshmi Basile “La Chimi” became the first and only foreign artist to win the highly regarded Spanish national prize, Concurso de las Minas de La Unión, in 2011. She also won an award in another primary contest, Concurso Nacional de Arte Flamenco de Córdoba.

The festival includes performances at various venues, music-only performances, a dance and guitar workshop, an art show, an open platform for students and the public to try flamenco dance for the first time, a paella cook-out, and the outdoor showing of flamenco-themed cinema.
