Continuing the tradition of honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, fourth- and fifth-grade students in Dallas will deliver original speeches between three to five minutes answering the question: “What would Dr. King say in his campaign speech if he were running for president this year?”
Approximately 135 students representing 15 Dallas ISD schools participated in the in-school competitions held in October. One student from each participating school was selected to advance to the semi-final round held on December 8th at the Dallas ISD Headquarters Auditorium. Of the 15 students, eight finalists advanced to the final competition. Criteria for judging include delivery, stage presence, content interpretation and memorization at all three competition levels.
