Now in its eighth year, the student photography scholarship competition Retail as Art continues to provide a platform for high school students to showcase their work and talent in a professional setting.
The charitable initiative, created by United Capital Realty CEO and former school teacher, Mickey Ashmore, invites students to capture their definition of “retail as art” through their own lenses, celebrating and capturing the true essence of retail.
A panel of notable creative professionals, from organizations and companies such as the Dallas Contemporary and Fossil, will select three winning entrants who will be awarded college scholarships to pursue their studies, a donation to their high school’s arts/photography department, as well as other prizes.
The goal of the contest, which has grown to include more than 70 participants from 12 DISD high schools and two private schools, is to inspire students’ artistic pursuits through recognition and awards, exposing young adults to an array of creative careers.
