Addison Laugh Fest
Addison Laugh Fest brings multiple comedy groups to the stage. Both nights are hosted by Rory Scholl, a comic and storyteller raised in Dallas who currently lives in New York City.
Scholl will emcee a lineup featuring The Mash Em Ups, veteran improvisers who normally don’t perform together and so are mashed up into a super group; Coyote, a troupe birthed during the pandemic who turned into a Rizzle app favorite with more than 70,000 followers; and Sondheimlich Maneuver, an off- off- off-Broadway musical improv group influenced by the song stylings of Stephen Sondheim.
The following day, Scholl hosts another night of laughs, starting with Odd Goblin and The Cinnamon Bears, a group of very funny comics who spent the pandemic performing online. This will be their first face-to-face show. Next, Coyote returns, followed by The Victims. Veteran performers Brian Kinkade, James Chandler, Jeff Swearingen, John Rawley and Kyle Bradford create improv pieces with the help of a storyteller, giving guests a night of highly theatrical unscripted comedic mayhem based on the stories told throughout the show.
The festival also features The Mash Em Ups Junior, which is just like The Mash Em Ups but in teen form. The show is safe and fun for kids, grandparents and everyone in between. Those interested in learning the art of improv are invited to participate in a workshop. Scholl will lead participants in an introductory improv course, teaching techniques and providing a foundation for future comedic performers. Immediately following the workshop, the Alternative Comedy Theater’s existing students will take the stage for a complimentary showcase.
